What They Do
Moloco is a US-based, Korean-founded advertising technology company. Its AI systems help advertisers find customers and help retailers turn their own digital platforms into advertising businesses. [1] Moloco Ads supports customer acquisition and re-engagement across independent mobile apps and connected TV. Moloco Commerce Media enables retailers and marketplaces to run advertising on their own sites, using their first-party commerce data. Customers include Costco and Wayfair. [1, 2] Co-founder and CEO Ikkjin Ahn previously worked on machine learning at Google. The company was founded in 2013 and has offices including Menlo Park, Seoul and Singapore. [1, 3]
Competitive Edge
AI BUILT AROUND COMMERCIAL OUTCOMES Moloco optimizes advertising toward measurable outcomes such as purchases and return on ad spend. Its shared AI architecture supports its two platforms; this does not mean customer data or one fixed model is pooled across retailers. [1, 4] RETAILER RELATIONSHIPS Commerce Media embeds Moloco's technology within customers' own digital stores. Costco selected the platform for onsite advertising in March 2026, adding a new application beyond mobile-app advertising. [2] REPORTED PROFITABILITY Reported FY2024 revenue grew 29.0% and operating profit rose 20.5%. Operating margin was 21.6%, compared with 23.2% in FY2023. Growth and profitability are established in the reported figures, although margins did not expand. [5]
Why We’re Watching
Moloco combines AI-driven advertising with a record of reported profitability. We are watching whether its expansion into commerce media and connected TV can sustain growth while preserving margins. Its secondary transactions provide historical valuation reference points, including a company-announced valuation above US$2bn in June 2023. Differences in timing, share rights and transaction terms limit comparisons with later reported values or IPO ambitions. [6] An eventual public filing would help clarify revenue recognition, business mix and earnings quality. US listing preparations were reported in February 2026; a listing date, price and return are not established. [7]
Key Risks
ADVERTISING DEMAND AND COMPETITION Advertiser budgets fluctuate with economic conditions. Other ad platforms compete on performance, measurement and price, and retailers have alternative technology providers. PLATFORM AND DATA DEPENDENCE Changes in mobile operating systems, privacy requirements or access to advertising inventory can affect targeting, measurement and costs. MARGINS AND EXPANSION New products require investment. FY2024 operating profit grew more slowly than revenue; historical profitability does not assure future margins. [5] DISCLOSURE AND COMPARABILITY Financials below are reproduced from Korean media reporting, not independently checked against group audited statements. Gross versus net revenue treatment is not stated. Korean subsidiary accounts are not interchangeable with the US company's figures. VALUATION AND LIQUIDITY Past secondary trades and reported IPO targets are not current executable prices. Share rights, transfer restrictions and market conditions can affect value and the ability to sell. An IPO is not assured.
